Kala's face tattoos are most obvious part about her, other than her nose, with three lines on her chin and a line of dots extending from each eye to her temples. The rest of her body is a canvas in the making.

Colorful and whatever's comfortable. A little punkish, a little thrown together, mixing all the patterns as if they were always made to go together. She often wears a bandana to keep her hair off her face. Kala is very comfortable in her own skin and is happy wearing nothing and next to nothing.

A crooked nose and very long hair.

Tall and willowy, Kala tends to draw the eye whether she wants to or not. High, regal cheekbones, a prominent nose, the ability to stare down literally anyone and no fucks to give are a powerful combination. In a world that does its best to try and keep her people down, Kala seems to have a natural tendency to shine and stand out - which isn't always a good thing.

Jewelry, all the time. Her septum piercing is never coming out and there likely isn't a time when she isn't wearing multiple necklaces or earrings. Rings are common, except when Kala is elbow-deep in her art.

Kala will go anywhere the wind blows. She is a free-loving (literally) and impulsive spirit, who is a lot of fun to be around, and is usually able to escape any serious consequences. It's not that she doesn't think about the consequences - well, yes, it's that she doesn't think about the consequences. But that kind of thinking isn't good for her art. You understand that, right? Kala can look at an oily puddle and see the swirls of colors she'll make into an earring that night, she can see the flames of a building on fire (a tragedy and emergency in these close quarters), and want to sear the colors into someone's skin. With their consent, of course.

Kala can come off as rather entitled because she has the privilege of beauty, sex appeal, and talent. Flirting her way out of trouble is the norm and she's apprenticed with several well-known artisans in Palladol, which may or may not have gone to her head. She is loyal, to an extent - just don't expect monogamy. Ever. And her friends will find her either gnawing on the end of a paint brush, smeared in clay or ink, boasting a post-coital glow, or banging on their doors to do something because she's bored. She can be quite generous with her friends, often gifting things that aren't selling or something she makes with them in mind. Everyone around her should look as good as she does, after all.

Even though Kala is an artist above all else, she is also easily swayed by coin (partially because she sends a good chunk of it back to Palladol, which leaves her with pitifully little, in her humble opinion). The dream is to become one of the Bourgeoise, get out of the Drench, and live up on the Plates. She can empathize with the rebellion, but isn't personally invested unless they can make it worth her while. Same goes for Topsiders. Pay her enough, make her life easier, and she'll make just about anything.

Kala is a middle child and only artist in a family of flannel-wearing, salt-of-the-earth lumberjacks who have been lumberjacks for generations. Trees are in their blood. The men go into forestry and lumber and the women tend to either do the same or pop out kids and care for the rest of the fairly tight-knit family. Kala, while she genuinely loves the beauty of Palladol (partiularly when compared to the dreary mess of the Drench), has always been the odd kid out and caught a lot of shit for it within her family, until she proved that she could make just as much money working with her hands - albeit in a different way. The shit-taking didn't stop there, particularly when she discovered just how much she enjoys sex, and exactly how she could wrap anyone from 15 - 25 around her proverbial finger. Some people are just gullible and easily manipulated, you know?

After apprenticing with several of Palladol's Master Artists (Drawing, painting, and ceramics, of which she is best at drawing), Kala decided she'd outgrown the wooded state and with secret dreams of riches and grandeur, left for Ok'Kotoll - which everyone privately agreed was really for the best. With a promise (to which she's strictly adhered to, for once) to send a portion of her earnings home, she's working on making a smol name for herself in a place where no one gives a fuck about her history, only what she can do. Kala currently specializes in ink drawings and tattoos, and is the most junior artist in a tattoo parlor... but her customers are usually quite satisfied. In more than one way? Doesn't matter, as long as they don't complain and they can pay.
