Of The Season
Quote
"Tell Dr. Nate that Gale sent you, and he still owes me for the mushrooms. Except that it takes you a while to reach the clinic, and by the time you do your fever is spiking, and so instead of the requisite message you instead tell the poor soul who greets you that 'A gale'a m'shrooms sent me cus'a my hands.'" - Zephyr in Oh help me, please doctor, I'm damaged
At perhaps the humblest of all the games, there sits a raggedy man atop a steel trunk, his outfit and mask both speaking of a better time. Still, he seems just as eager as any of the others to entice people over, spinning tales of the wonders within his trunk – if you’re lucky enough to land on the slimmest wedge of the wheel.
Most people walk away with nothing, satisfied enough by the chance of getting something grand. Some walk away with something small, but no one’s even seen the man shift off his trunk yet.
Welcome to the Fortune event! Each character gets one spin, feel free to spin however you like
This is a FOR roll

Dressed in his ‘costume’ (a sheer, draped jacket over tight leather pants and boots, with a half-arsed mask), Adam was sauntering around the streets of the festival doing his usual thing of smoking and looking around. This was not a part of town he got to often. Frankly, the towering buildings and blatant opulence of it all made him a little nauseous, as did the people swanning about as if they were better than anyone else.
Maybe that was why he was drawn to the old man in the shabbier costume; the humble crate was far more appealing than the shiny and wide-grinned Platers showing off too-expensive shit. Walking up with a nod, Adam passed over enough to have a spin.
”Well, let’s give it a go.” He said, giving it a heavy pull with one hand.
Just take that dark cloud
Ring it out to wash it down
Would the kinship with the raggedy game maker be enough to win Adam the slimmest prize of fortune?
Perhaps.
As the Drencher steps up to the wheel, it does capture the man’s eyes, peering at him through the paint chipped exterior. Adam’s hand grabs the handle on the wheel, and with a mighty spin the clicking of the wheel erupts loud enough to blot out the chatter from the nearby food cart.
The wheel begins to slow and the man on the trunk lifts his attention to the wedges of color that tick on by until it finally lands on…. A painted green wedge.
It isn't the sliver with the big prize, unfortunately, but the green wedge Adam lands on means he gets to spin again!

Perhaps another person would have been embarrassed by the loud clicking of the wheel; Adam merely leaned back and folded his arms, closed his eyes, confident that when he opened them again he would have whatever grand prize one could get from a shabby old man with a wheel. As the final few slow clicks sounded, he peeked out of one eye...to see he'd just gotten another turn.
Hm. Not the best, not the worst.
"Oh, cool, building up the suspense and shit." He nodded approvingly, as if the old man had planned this result, and leaned in to spin again.
Just take that dark cloud
Ring it out to wash it down
The man’s gaze lifts to the wheel as it lands on the spin again wedge, snorting before he nods to the Drencher to try it again.
And try again he does – only this time, far less successfully though with basically the same result, the wheel clicks and clicks as it spins, slowing down only to land on yet another spin again wedge.
The man on the trunk simply nods to Adam again. “One more t’try ‘n then that's it for ya.” Third time could be the charm, right Adam?

"...Huh." Adam said as the wheel clicked to the disappointing green wedge again, beginning to wonder if he was being tricked here. His eyes went to the old man, who didn't seem to be revelling in his failure so far, then back to the wheel.
While he was here he supposed he may as well give it as many goes as he could. Blowing on his fingers (he'd seen some people do this before gambling) he stepped back, shook his shoulders then leaned forward to spin the wheel once more.
Just take that dark cloud
Ring it out to wash it down
There isn’t time for the old man on the trunk to rejoice just yet – because he does watch idly as Adam blows on his fingers, shakes out his shoulders, and then steps toward the wheel one final time. It spins with more vigor this time, perhaps due to frustration or wanting to succeed. Yet as the wheel starts to slow its clicks in between the wedges, Adam will watch as that sliver of a prize slowly slips away from its rightful place under the arrow at the top.
Leaving Adam with a white triangle of Better Luck Next Time!
Which lets a small snort leave the man on the trunk, hand waving to guide him off to the side so others could participate.
Adam doesn’t win the big prize :( He still gets the stat for leveling, though!
A bow to such a man was the first thing Siegfried did. "Greetings good man I would like to see what my luck brings me." Politeness was important, especially to people with a lot of experience. At least that's what Siegfried thought when he saw this man.
To anger, someone like that brought bad karma and would ensure that his next work would all be unsuccessful. Even if he did not win, he would still have won in his eyes. The wheel would probably not point to the small wedge, but he was curious.

As Adam departs, the man on the trunk casts a glance Sigfried’s way as he steps up to spin the wheel, and as he’s greeted, the man nods to it with a hint of expectation in his gaze. Nobody has hit the small sliver of a grand prize yet, but perhaps the night would change. “Give it yer best shot.” He tells the young man as he sits back on his trunk and watches the wheel start to spin.
Another series of clicks as it starts to slow, eventually landing on that haunting green wedge that Adam had hit so many times before.
Sigfried lands on the spin again wedge! Go ahead and try again!
You should not push your luck. Siegfried waves off his thanks. "No, good man, if it doesn't work the first time, I don't think it will work the second time, but thank you for your time." He nodded curtly and the grin was unfortunately again not visible under the mask.
He hoped that he had not offended the man and said goodbye politely. to the rest of you good luck".After that he goes humming a song in good mood
