Of The Season
Quote
"Tell Dr. Nate that Gale sent you, and he still owes me for the mushrooms. Except that it takes you a while to reach the clinic, and by the time you do your fever is spiking, and so instead of the requisite message you instead tell the poor soul who greets you that 'A gale'a m'shrooms sent me cus'a my hands.'" - Zephyr in Oh help me, please doctor, I'm damaged
There it is. The intention behind all the compliments. It was as Cian had suspected, but now he knew instead of having to assume. He wish he could play along with the flirting, but all he can feel was a small grip of disappointment tightening around his chest. The friendly interactions starts to leave a bitter taste in his mouth along with the rising concern that this was the only thing Siegfried was after with the friendly interactions. The expression of discomfort slowly keeps growing.
Before Cian can throw out any kind of comment, Sunjata replies and changes the subject. Cian slowly lets out a breath he was not even aware he was holding, and his fingers stop fidgeting to hold onto the empty mug instead. "I'd suggest Garanenz, but I am biased and have been nowhere else before now." The seriousness from before has faded from Cian's voice. Even a softer smile appears on his face as he looks towards Sunjata.
"Even if they do not have the best milkshakes." He adds with a quiet chuckle, remembering the comment Sunjata had made when they first met.

Siegfried smiled. "Then I must have sounded the wrong signals here. I am sorry. But hey, you can have a nice evening like that. Sex has been only one option. I do not know how open you are to it. Please don't take it amiss." He said and tried to smile.
He really just wanted to make friends here. But he had to overdo it so often, as always. He had perhaps taken the opportunity to make good friends here. He had to make up for it somehow. The question is whether they will give him the chance.
He thought about it, but from his home were only mountains and many mine shafts he found them not particularly beautiful. Everything had a bitter taste when he thought back to his home.

An explanation for Sigfried quickly follows his apology, a small smile offered for the man. “People aren’t usually so forward with it here on the Plates.” But there’s a shrug that accompanies it, his smile growing crooked as Cian answers his question. Garanenz, however, is a place he has visited in his youth though he can't remember it all that much. “My mother’s a Garsen.” He offers to Cian — one of the noble houses of that state.
It’s also why she wasn’t here currently. Stuck because of the lockdown in her home state. “I still have to show you those.” A small remark about the milkshakes, a huff of a laugh leaving him as he sinks into the seat further, head angling toward Sigfried again. “If you like milkshakes, there’s a diner on POE that makes the best ones in Unk’Kotoll.” He reaches and points in the direction of the third plate, before settling again.
and for the last night i lie could i lie with you?
With a soft sigh, Cian gives Siegfried a small smile. "No, I am not used to people being so forward either... And not that either of you are bad looking, I am just not in the habit of going there with people I don't know well enough." Perhaps he had reacted a bit strongly to the compliments and their intentions. If the alcohol was to blame for that or not was hard to say.
He turns back to Sunjata and nods. "I may have heard of them." He comments with a grin. Of course he had heard of them. He had never had anything to do with the Garsen house, however. At least not that he was aware of. He had done a lot of work for anonymous people, though, so perhaps. There was always a possibility.
A huff followed by a quiet chuckle leaves him. "You do have to treat me to those milkshakes. I need to see if they truly are the best. So far, the ones back home are quite good, but I do not have anything to compare to."

Siegfried was shocked he thought this would be different. "We are quite open about it. But I understand. You want to get to know each other better first. I understand, then I will try to do that. But yes, I meant everything I said. You both look damn good. I didn't say that just to be able to sleep with you." He tried to explain the whole thing.
There were only question marks on Siegfried's face."What is a Garsen. I'm afraid I can't do anything with it. Can you explain it to me? If you are so kind. Maybe at a Michschake if they are really as good as you say. To be honest, the alcohol is a bit too much for me. Either a nice greasy meal or a nice milkshake would be wonderful," he said with a broad grin.

Somehow, Cian thinking he’s not too bad looking either comes as a surprise to the young Enforcer and a small huff of a snort leaves him, looking over at Sigfried as he doubles down on the fact that they were both attractive. Sunjata’s not going to argue the point either, though, but he’s also not one to admit it so forwardly. After all, he’d only blundered it out when Nate had called him cute once before. And that was wholly by accident and the poor young Bratena was mortified after.
But in terms of Garsens, he flashes a crooked smile toward Cian. “I only visited once when I was younger.” Not that he could remember it. He does, however, remember his father nonstop bitching about it. So he turns to Sigfried to explain further. “Garsen is another one of the noble houses, like the Bratena, but they’re located in another state called Garanenz.” A place of power and technology, a wonder to his mind when he was a small child. He’d been enamoured, wishing he could live there one day with his mother’s side of the family.
So he clears his throat after that tidbit of information, laying out a bit of an opening for Cian to explain his home state better than Sunjata could, if he wished to, before following it up with a crooked smile the blacksmith’s way. “I think it’s closed right now because of the festival but I’ll show you it too. There should be snacks in the meantime running around that might fill the stomach enough to soak up the alcohol?” He asks, sitting up straighter and peering around for any plates that might be passed about.

The talk of Garanenz makes Cian miss his home even more. The thoughts of calling and explaining the situation stirs once more at the back of his head, and once more he pushes them away. It was not like he could just bring up his phone and have that talk with his family right now anyway. In company of others and not sober enough to think properly.
Focusing back on said company, he gives Sunjata a short shrug and looks between him and Siegfried. "What to really say about Garanenz. It's a neighbouring state to this one, but much larger than Ok'Kotoll. The state probably does the most of the tech and transportation stuff for the whole country. Got a big love for magic as well."
Cian makes a short pause and studies his empty mug while giving himself a couple of seconds to think. "I am not from a very large town there, but it was sort of a train hub. Lots of cargo trains coming through on their way elsewhere. My family got a small shop there that I usually help out in" When he is not busy being stuck in a lockdown in the capital.
He lets the talk go back to the milkshakes after his small explanation of his home state and looks around as well when Sunjata mentions snacks. Something to keep busy nibbling on would be great.

Siegfried listened to what the two had to say. He really wanted to take the time to get to know Beiude. He just found them both interesting. The eyes the kin. Whether they would stand him model if he would ask them. He would concentrate on Cian's facial features and Sunjata's eyes.
He nodded to what was said. He understood the nobility. He understood that they were needed, but he didn't know that they would come with so many rules and obligations. He thought nobles would just get drunk and live the life everyone dreams of. But were they really bad problems? To worry about what to eat tomorrow. Did they know the feeling? Or the fear of freezing to death. He doubted it with Sunjata. But were his problems less bad because of it? Siegfried was free. Sunjata in the golden cage. Which fate was worse? He had an idea for his next work of art.
He doubted that anyone would come. "Just give me a quadruple espresso, please," he said to the merchant. "Then we'll do it another time with the milkshake. I hope it comes to that again. But I'm afraid that we won't be able to get together like this anytime soon. I will have to go back down soon. Unless you let me visit you," said Siegfried as he sipped his espresso and shook himself for a moment.

As Cian explains what Garanenz is like, Sunjata spends the moment reminiscing of it with his little internal memories of the country, unable to keep the smile from tugging on his face as he scouts around for someone to come by to bring them food. Usually it was a situation where you go to them, but perhaps being a Bratena heir has some perks as one booth keeper comes over with the look of Sunjata almost seeming lost. “Some food and drinks, please. Non alcoholic.” Comes the apologetic smile, before Sigfried announces his order and the booth keeper has departed to retrieve them.
His gaze flickers back over toward Sigfried with a small knowing smile. “I could probably get you up here easily. As for going back into the Drench, I’m there quite often these days while I’m working.” Though it would be quite unprofessional for him to spend time with Sigfried while in uniform, he supposes. “Maybe I’ll get a bit more freedom coming up that I can spend more time down there and bring you up to try the milkshakes.” Comes the suggestion. At least for Cian it would be easy, a quick little jaunt to POE.
The booth keeper returns with quite a load of trays, snacks ranging from lotus breads to cranberry filled pastries, a couple of greasy hamburgers, and a nice, light refreshing soda pitcher with some glasses alongside Sigfried’s coffee order. Sunjata flashes the keeper a smile, sluggishly moving to collect the tray to set them down on a table he drags over with a foot. “Thank you.” He offers to them before reaching out to grab a cranberry pastry to eat.

When a booth keeper comes over and receives an order of food and drinks, Cian gives them an apologetic smile of his own. Perhaps a bit on the awkward side as well. As if he thought it odd to not go over to the booth and order there instead. Once the keeper has left, Cian turns his attention to Siegfried. "I don't have a home here for anyone to visit, but I am always up for a meeting somewhere in the city. All I've got is a tiny motel room and the owner is not very fond of visitors being taken to the rooms." He gives a shrug. "Not that everyone follows that. I have seen people sneak company in at odd hours."
A table appears and food is set down on it. Cian blinks and looks at the trays with a stunned expression, as if it was more food than he had seen in his entire stay in the city. He gives the booth keeper another awkward smile and then looks over the collection of food, but keeps his hands on the mug from before. The sight of the burgers makes his stomach remind him of how empty of food it was.
"How is it like down there, in the Drench?" The question is directed towards both Sunjata and Siegfried. Cian had not ventured down there himself yet, but he was curious about the city below.
