When the days are as unbearably hot as they are this time of year, it became extra easy to be defiant about the forced bedtime put in place and be out on the move at night instead. Not that the temperature after sunset is that much better. So when everything had started closing down for the evening before the curfew came into effect, Ira had left the streets and taken to the high ground of the roofs instead. During all her times out at night, she had so far not seen any patrols trying to climb walls.

She has found a good spot on a lower roof, sitting cross-legged close to the edge. Still quite a bit up from the ground and not a height you would just jump down from, but low enough for her to still be able to pick out movement on the street. Her eyes are fixed on a couple of enforcers slowly moving through the dark alley below, watching them through the trail of smoke rising from the cigarette resting loosely between her lips. She has been stalking after them for a while and now they have been standing still discussing something for the last few minutes.

Her fingers drum silently against the edge of the roof and she debates whether she should continue to stalk after them to see where they are going, or just stay put for now. "Could drop something down on you and be gone before you even look up." She mumbles quietly under her breath and watches as the enforcers move past below her. There are probably loose bricks and bottles lying around somewhere should she feel bored enough to take the risk. Lead them on a merry chase until they get themselves lost deeper in the dark.

You were born for these flashing lights
You were born for these endless nights
As the years had gone on since his scrappy childhood, Adam had seen less and less people up on the rooftops of the Drench. At one time, it had been the regular route for any ne'er-do-well youth looking to travel across the city, but the tradition had fallen out of favour as most grew to be too big to trust the flimsy construction of buildings down here.

When he saw someone sat on a roof over a lit street, illuminated by the glow below, Adam immediately began to head over. Dropping down the wall of the tower he had been perched on for a smoke (had the curfew gone by? He had no idea, maybe. Not like he cared) he waltzed over, stepping across gaps ten feet deep as if they were mere cracks in a pavement.

Once close enough he heard that the person was saying something, though a little too quiet for him to pick up on - one thing he was attuned to though was enforcer presence, and Adam slowed his pace to be quieter as he approached, waiting for the officers to be a ways down the street before tapping the mystery roofgoer on the shoulder. "Hey. What're you doin' up here?"

She's been climbing the buildings since she was a child and is not planning on stopping any time soon, being of the opinion that she would simply miss out too much of the Drench if she stayed on the ground. Besides, with the new law in place, staying on the ground at this time came with a big risk as well.

She hears the sound of foot steps somewhere nearby, but she remains still. From what she can hear, they do not sound like the heavy footfalls of any enforcer and besides, they don't climb up to the roofs. Do they? She is still on alert, however. Knowing very well that not all fellow Drenchers have the best of intentions either and she keeps her eyes on the enforcers below while also listening to the steps coming closer. Then there is a tap on her shoulder.

The voices brings a small frown to her face. It sounds vaguely familiar, but she can't quite place it yet. She picks the cigarette from her lip and slowly blows out some smoke while gesturing after the enforcers moving away on the street below. "Been stalking them since the curfew started a while ago" She responds quietly, but clear enough for Adam to hear. "Trying to decide if I should scratch this itch to mess with them or not." She puts the cigarette back to her lips before unfolding her legs and rising to her feet in one smooth motion before finally turning to look at the owner of the other voice.

As soon as Ira spoke, Adam felt a creeping familarity, but it wasn't until she turned that it clicked - or at the very least, it clicked he knew her from somewhere. Just not where. "Oh! Hey, I know you, from uh..." He clicked his fingers a few times, trying to detangle drunken memories from each other. They hadn't slept together, he was pretty sure, and he didn't seem to be angry at her... "...You made me eggs!"

Mystery solved, he turned his attention to what Ira was actually saying. Few people understood the urge to mess with Enforcers better than Adam, but by now he'd had enough consequences to give her a wary cringe.

"Depends on what you're thinking, I guess. It's fun to fuck with them, but not fun to get hit by those stupid sticks." Especially as he'd seen the upgraded versions. "Whatcha gonna do?"

Judging from her expression while she looks Adam over, she is also trying to figure out why he seems familiar. She knows for really sure they haven't slept together either and when he mentions eggs, it clicks for her as well. "Right! You're that... Radio guy, right?" It isn't as if she can remember every single person entering the diner, but she had proper interactions with few enough past just saying Hi that some faces stuck with her.

"I'd make you a drink too if this damn curfew didn't force the bar to close so early." In her opinion, it should be illegal for any bar to be forced to close before sunrise, but the Platers apparently thought it was a good idea to put a ban on Having Fun. It is also the fact that closing early and everything else surrounding the lockdown is really starting to but a strain on the economy for everyone.

She looks over her shoulder and takes another drag of off the cigarette while giving herself time to ponder his question. "Not sure I've decided to even do anything yet. Just damn tempting, but if it's really worth the risk." She turns and slowly walks a few steps along the edge of the roof to get a look at where the two enforcers had gone. They had not moved very far, at least. "Maybe drop some things to make noise, see how far into the Chokes one could lure them before they get hopelessly lost. Or just find something heavy to drop down on them, but I'm not sure I woke up on the violent side of bed."

She's not a violent person at all usually and the chances of her trying to actually harm someone without being under real pressure are very slim. Even when it comes to enforcers.

"Radio guy! Yeah!" Adam was clearly quite happy with this nickname, nodding along as it sunk in. With his radio reputation slowly fading away as the lockdown and his limited broadcasts continued, it was nice to see she remembered. Still, it was probably best to restate his name (and have an excuse to ask for hers again). "Uh, Adam. And your name was uhh...?"

Somehow he doubted she'd like to be called egg lady.

The half-offer of the drink made him smile too, though he just shrugged as it was taken away. "If I want a drink, there's plenty of places to go still. Surprised you're following along, to be honest." Many bars had taken to turning off their lights and staying quiet for an hour when the curfew settled in, then silently unlocking the door for patrons once the heat had passed. Of course it came with a risk, but messing with Plates authority was just a part of Drench life.

Speaking of...

"Oh, that's all? We can do some of that. Easy to lead them down into the middle of nowhere." He'd done it many times out of necessity. "...You want to, then?" Adam asked, eyebrows raised, as he knelt down to pick up a shard of brick on the roof, perfect for dropping to make a noise.

She can't remember if they had even given their names last time, but it didn't matter when he told his now anyway. "It's Ira." She responds and throws him a smirk over her shoulder as she slowly walks along the edge. As for there being places still open and hers being closed, she gives a shrug.

"The guy in charge wants to play it safe most times. We do sometimes open up again, but too rarely. Honestly thinking of pushing him to that more often because I'm getting rather fed up with all of it at this point." The idea of making it to the bar and sneak in crosses her mind, but she puts it aside for now. Perhaps she can suggest it later and give Adam that offered drink anyway. She does possess a key after all, so why not abuse that power at least once. Her boss can't accuse her of breaking in then, at least.

She stops and turns to look at Adam again when he seems to be in on messing with the poor enforcers down below. "Was all I had thought of so far. Not really up for picking an actual fight with them. That just sounds like a real stupid idea." She huffs a quiet laugh and crouches down to put out the cigarette against the roof and flick it over the edge. Her eyes goes to the brick he picks up and after a couple of seconds of consideration, she gives him a nod and a wider smirk as she stands back up. "Yeah, let's."

"Ira, right." Adam said, as if he was remembering this name and not feeling like he was hearing it for the first time.

Everyone in the Drench was pretty fucking fed up of the lockdown, to say the least. With no end in sight, it was a wonder that anyone was still being careful; sooner or later, Adam was sure, everyone in the Drench would collectively decide the curfew just wasn't happening anymore. It wasn't like the enforcers could arrest all of them.

She agreed to his nefarious schemes and with a grin, Adam gripped the brick a little tighter and began to walk down the edge of the roof, keeping a few metres behind the enforcers and watching as they followed out their patrol. These two were, for the moment, being quiet - no one was out on this street (they had not thought to look above) and they were just finishing up their rounds. Waiting until they had almost turned the corner, Adam threw the brick - not at the enforcers, but at a wall on the street, where it made a satisfying THUNK and crash noise, powder and chunks exploding over the ground.

From the surprised noises, one could garner that the Enforcers had noticed. With a childish grin, Adam ducked behind the ridge of the roof and motioned for Ira to do the same.

She follows after Adam and picks up some more pieces of bricks as she goes to have a little collection to use. As they are stalking after the oblivious enforcers, she scans the streets and alleys she can make out from where they are. Trying to map out which paths one could lead the enforcers down on. Where one could quickly get from one roof to the other to follow the network of streets from above.

The enforcers come to the end of their route and Adam throws the brick. Ira is quick to duck out of sight and just grins with a silent laugh while listening to the reaction sounds coming from the street. She can't really make out what they were saying, but they sound alarmed at least. "Well, there goes their plans on getting an early night's sleep." She whispers amused and grips one of the brick pieces she had collected.

She moves back a bit the way they came and throws the piece further back into the alley. The sound of it bouncing hard off the wall echoes out, before it sounds like it hits a trash bin or something because the ratting sound of metal that follows has one of the enforcers call out to the invisible person they might think is there making noises behind him. While listening to the running boots moving to investigate the sound, Ira tosses one of the brick pieces she has to Adam with a mischievous grin to see where he might want to lure the enforcers next.

His plan worked perfectly and Ira's comment on it made Adam grin, his eyes just peeking over the roof edge. It was childish, sure, but it always felt good to get a little victory against the Enforcers - even if it was just confusing them.

Ira's trash can shot was inspired, the rattling of the metal ringing out in the quiet night in a way that would certainly have anyone on the street shaking in their boots. Adam took the rubble, held onto it for a moment as he watched the two Enforcers approach the corner they thought their suspect was hiding, batons held out; they were tense. He let that build for a while, watching them glance at each other as they realised no one was there.

"Wonder if they think it's haunted." He whispered, then kicked things up a notch: With a well aimed shot, he skipped the shard off the closest Enforcer's ankle, causing him to shout out and whip around - Adam had already ducked down.
